Rita House
The Rita Street Project was a renovation of an apartment for a couple who were open to doing something different, so it was really liberating to know there were areas of the property I could explore creatively. We used beautiful natural stone for visual impact – in the kitchen the eye is drawn to the exquisite Mojito marble island. We installed Como Charcoal limestone on the fireplace heart and in the powder room the New York marble is a central feature for the custom integrated stone basin. The practicalities of each area have been heavily considered, particularly in the kitchen, with heat and scratch resistant porcelain used on the bench and splash back, a scullery hidden behind a door and a curved, rendered range hood that mixes workable with aesthetic. The client was brave enough to add dramatic flair with the dark engineered timber flooring, and the Mosaic tiled curved walls are a design accent I love. The soft edges have been carried through to the furnishings and paired with earthy greens and a natural palette give this a serene aura. Being open to new looks and new products made this a standout finish.
